Routing Issues Earlier Today

At around 7:30 AM CT, our support team noticed that some customers located overseas were having issues connecting to their sites.

The issues were a result of a network problem that caused connections routed through The Planet's London datacenter to fail. As a result, customers who had a connection routed through that datacenter had trouble accessing their sites at HostGator and any other sites hosted within The Planet's network.

The issue was resolved within approximately one hour. During that hour, customers in North and South America had no trouble accessing sites hosted by The Planet and the issue was noticed almost exclusively by customers located overseas.

The Planet provided us with the following official explanation:

There was a problem with our public peering session in the London LINX facility which is where all these traces died. The problem was resolved at approximately 08:30 CDT.

As we get more information from The Planet, we'll continue to provide it here. We apologize about any inconveniences this might have caused.
