I just looked at the reseller plans page to see how the current offerings compare to the plan I have.

I realized that I don't know what the disk space and bandwidth allowances were for my plan when I signed up. And none of the confirmation e-mails that I have from HostGator provides those details.

How do I find out what my plan allows me?

I think if you signed up in September or later you should be on the latest. Anyway, it'll be in your whm somewhere.

No, it's not in whm, at least not anywhere that I can find it. I can see what quotas I've set up for accounts under my reseller account, but I can't find anything that pertains to the quotas on the reseller account itself.

Go to whm, create account, and look near the bottom. It tells you how much of space and bw you have altogether, how much you have allocated, and how much you have left.

Thanks, programmer! I figured that information must be there somewhere -- it just didn't occur to me that I needed to do a "create account" to see it.

It turns out I have the latest & greatest specs.... But I'm still not sure I like the approach HG is using.

If not that, then offer current customers an easy upgrade path from our current servers.

I would pay to have my sites moved. I would pay a fee to get the current quotas on my current server. What I cannot do is shut down all my sites at once or pay 50% more every month to leave them as is.

It's five months after the packages were changed and people are still complaining.
And the reason I'm complaining now, is that this is the first I've heard of it -- I'm already a customer, so I don't often check the sales page. If I had been informed in advance, I wouldn't be complaining now. As it is, I ended up finding out by accident, five months later. Now I'm pissed.

Well I was pissed also at the beginning cause I "missed" the new offer for 3 days ....I was on Aluminium plan (1gb and don't know how much bandwidth)....Ok...I was pissed at first but then I decided to upgrade to Copper plan and now for only extra $10 per month I have 7gb and 70Gb bandwith...if you ask me that was a good deal....and I didn't have to move my sites....

abstraktMedia, I think your experience is a prime example of what the primary concern is here:

It's a total crapshoot whether or not you get the better deals. If you sign up 3 days too early, you miss out. If you get distracted, don't complete the sign-up, and come back 3 days later and sign up, you get the better deal. If you sign up 3 days too early and then upgrade, you get the better deal. But if you sign up 3 days too early and don't need to upgrade, then you don't get the better deal. If you hold your mouth just right while filling out the sign-up form, you may or not get the better deal, depending on the phase of the moon and the price of tea in China this week.

Couldn't you upgrade to Copper and pay the $10 to downgrade back to Aluminium? Wouldn't that give you the new offer?

(This may have been stated already, I didn't want to read all of these post.)

I am going to have to say that I am a bussiness man and as they said companys offer specials all the time to get more customers and to compete! I don't know of a host out there that when they update your plan that your will get updated without some money! Because it would cost the hpost way to much money! And the hosts need to make the money to compete and stay around! Now say a host offers your first year free well there clients say that isn't fair when I signed up I didn't get a year free I deserve a year free you think that host is going to do it lol! No that is the same thing company offers specials all the time and that doesn't mean that they have to offer it to there hundreds of current clients or they would never be able to offer any kind of specials with out going under or in the in the - ! Well I am not saying host gator shouldn't give it to you all but I am just saying think of it from tjere side and think how much that would cost them! I am very happy with hostgatpr and love them best host I have ever been with thank you so much! Also the only thing I think host gator should do is offer some kind of deal were if you pay for a full year you get a discount like other companys! Because that would make people stay around longer maybe! And I know several people that have turned away from hostgator because they wanted a yearly discount and hostgator didn't have it so they left! Thanks!

just my opinion, at the end of my cell phone contract i can get the "new costomer promotions" which always include a new phone and adds minutes and other features for the same price. and since we are on a monthly contact so to speek we should at least be able to get the added Megs at the begining of the month(when we pay). Because cell phone contracts are more for them to pay for the phones cost not the minutes. just like satelite you sign a contract to pay for the free dish not the signal. if you buy the dish or phone outright you dont have to sign a contract!!!!! so they should offer us the megs without the "new programs"(phone, dish). Just what i think
