Hello everybody,
Before I sign up with HostGator, I made a lot of search on the web and asked some question to commercial support. They were patient and very nice with a beginner like me (they gave me a little coupon ^^) I am a very happy customer since 4 months. For a beginner like me, the control panel is very intuitive. The support is also great ! Each time I had a question or a problem, they answered me and solved it very quickly ! (raised PHP memory, solved a Path problem and FTP problem). They are nice and patient. Some time 2 of them answer me at the same time ![]() Hehe, on the ticket history I just found that : One time I write them at 04:57 AM and they answered me at 05:03 AM. Well, what next? I am seriously considering taking a dedicated server in 2-3 months with them. I am not a professional to manage a server, I have just some basics on Linux network. I am sure Hostgator will help to make my way on managing a dedicated server if I have a problem. Well, I think for my first experience with a Webhost company, it’s a success. Hello,
Like I promised, I am back for an update review. At first, I have just contacted the moderators of WHT in order to give them the host where I am (last time I didn't understand why I have to do it through the Bad report system). Ok here is the review. I am with Hostgator since December 2005. Since my last review (April 2006) lot of things happened. I told you that I will take a dedicated with them but the business plan changed a lot and so we took another shared plan in July 2006. At first, my registar refused to bind my domain name with a hostgator shared server because the Hostmaster (a feature on the server?) couldn’t be reached. So I wrote to hostgator support team to see if they can do anything in order to by pass this problem. One hour later, they resolved the situation and everything was fine. During the last months, I had some problem with cpanel that they resolved them quickly. They are amazing support team, always fast to answer my problem and fix issues. It’s true that I had some little downtime with them (but lot of people told me it is what happening when we are on shared server). Each time I had a “server can’t be reach”, I contacted the support via Live Chat and everything was resolved in 5min. If the live chat couldn’t resolve the problem, they nicely ask me to contact support via ticket system. Then the situation are generally resolved quickly. One time, I had a bigger downtime (like 50-60min if I remember well) because of hardware failure. I had a recent issue : I could download at only 2k/sec on the ftp and http (5 days ago) on the server. I contacted them and they tried everything and tested the server from a lot of place. They said that everything was ok and told me for try a trace route. After that, I heard that my ISP had some routing problem (so it was not the server fault but my ISP). My conclusion is that I am still happy with hostgator because for a beginner like me on hosting (my first experience), everything is ok and the support team are very patient with me.
