Positive Review after 3-1/2 years

I registered my own domain in early 2002, and HostGator is my third hosting company. Signed up with them in February 2007, after losing faith in the previous company, with which I'd been hosting for almost 5 years.

It's a nervous business picking a new hosting company. I guess I picked HostGator based on reviews vs cost, but you never really know a hosting company until you've been with them a while.

In the 3-1/2 years I've been with HostGator I've only contacted tech support 5-6 times, usually for information. Aside from their outstanding reliability (I've never perceived an outage in http or email), if I had to pick the one point that most impresses me about this company, it is their high level of professionalism when responding to customers. I'm a Baby Croc customer; they aren't making money from me, but you'd never know if from the responses I've had to the occasional question. Whenever I needed technical information, the people responding always went out of their way to give clear but detailed answers. And quickly, too.

I don't use the chat mode; I send an email request. I figure that way the tech has time to look into the question and respond. In all cases I've had responses within what I consider a very acceptable time frame, usually less than an hour.

A year ago, I relocated a local non-profit's site to HostGator. It not only saved them a considerable amount of money, they went from limited storage and bandwidth to unlimited; not that they need a lot of either, but they also gained several other features not available from the previous hosting company. They've never had a problem with that site, either.

I've been online since 1993, and I've seen a lot. I enjoy building Websites; I do not enjoy having to deal with hosting problems! Since I've been hosting with HostGator I don't stress out over hosting stuff anymore. I know that even if I foul up, help I need and can understand and use is readily available. Priceless! Thanks to HostGator staff for their excellent service. It really has been a pleasure.
