Question about reselling!

Hi i am here again i am really having 2nd thought of purchasing reseller as i really dont know how it works but i wanted to resell to earn of course. Now i have this question which i really cant figure out how it works. I wanted to know how the reselling works and this is really important for me to know.

I wanted to avail Aluminum reseller hosting plan
which offers:
24gb disk space
250gb bandwidth
for the price of: $24.95/month

now this is the thing that bothers me, how many clients can i have with that amount of package?

What if one of my client purchased 24gb of disk space and 250gb of bandwidth does it mean that i dont have anymore space and bandwidth to sell? because i run out of space and bandwidth?

so if i resell that package for only $10 a month i am stupid because i bought it for $24.95?

so it means if im going to resell my aluminum i have to divide it and study how i can earn with 24gb of space and 250 of bandwidth, if i sale $1gb of diskspace and 10gb bandwidth i can only have 24 clients with that because i only have 24gb space and 250 bandwidth on my package and if ever i want to resell i have to upgrade to obtain more space..

oh god can someone pls. explain to me how this reseller thing works pls.?

thanks

Depends on how much space / bandwidth you sell to each client.

Correct, same as if you have a grocery store selling..... cans of Aardvark repellent. If you buy 24 cans of Aardvark repellent, you can't sell 25 cans, can you? That is unless you purchase more cans of Aardvark repellent.

Still correct ..... (see the pattern here)

You have already worked it out. What didn't you understand?

e.g. If you sell a package consisting of 1Gb disk space / 10Gb bandwidth for $10 per month and you sell 24 of those packages, then you will have paid $24.95 but sales of $240

Or if you sell a package consisting of 1Gb disk space / 10Gb bandwidth for $20 per month and you sell 24 of those packages, then you will have paid $24.95 but sales of $480

thanks for the quick answer..
I see so i think it is not really good to be a reseller after all why? because with 24gb of space and 250gb of bandwidth is not going to work out on hostgator webhosting plan for example the Hatchling plan of hostgator which offers unlimited space and unlimited bandwidth for only $4.95. So for how much are you gonna sell 24gb space and 250gb badnwidth with a competition whos offering unlimited.

gawd!

I understand everything except the bit about the aardvark repellant. I mean, they're not THAT bad, are they?

Because we use aardvarks in a lot of examples, the forum has become so aardvark-friendly its natural eco-system has altered.

You cannot compete with huge hosts like Hostgator on price/space alone. You need to offer value-added services to your clients-- things that your personal attention brings them.

Unlimited is never unlimited if you started uploading terrabytes of information I'm sure questions would be asked anywhere...

Alot of the the hosts that offer unlimited access (barring the very big companies... like hostgator etc...) do not survive long, because they soon either run out of space or their services grind to a halt, and they are not getting enough in to accomadate for this.

At first you may think you are getting a worse deal than the hosts that are offering unlimited access for the same kind of money. But when you start to read about the subject and think about it you realise that the limited nature of the reseller plan is actually a PLUS for the reseller account not a minus. It means Hostgator have taken the time to think about how they can deliver a decent service and have put that in front of gimmicky marketing!

I was thinking the same thing about the 24gb space but then also saw that most my sites are way less than 1gb of data. Also, I do add value in building the website. You can also use photo storage sites if it is photo heavy just keeping the database and website info on hostgator. Just link out to the photo storage for photos and this keeps your site small on storage. My largest site after 5 years was 910mb and that was because the started doing online backups. I then coached them on how and why to download and delete backups. I think I could easily get 25 sites on one hostgator aluminum account. If you have a site that is sucking bandwidth or storage they need a little coaching or pay a little more. People host with me because of me, not because of my cheap price or limited bandwidth. So with this in mind, I think hostgator makes since.

Thats my two cents...
