Default reseller vs VPS ?

I'm a happy reseller account customer here at HG.

Considering going VPS level 3 (smallest one with Cpanel) instead of reseller.......having 2 questions:

1) Will I be able to feel/measure increase in speed (running Joomla, Wordpress and HTML/CSS sites for mostly my own web clients).....

2) hmmm. how to put this question.....I'm not a "server-guy", if a migrate my reseller to a VPS, will that "be the same", i.e. can I just keep using Cpanel/WHM like before and the server will be managed by HG (same as resellers servers are handled) ?? hope you understand this, because I *do* understand that one of the reasons why you're getting a VPS, is exactly because then you can change everything :-)....

oh.....I said 2 questions..but actually there's one more:

3) Can I myself take a full backup of the server, for instance via FTP, setup in Virtuozzo or how does one handle backup ?

Thanks !

I really would like to know the answer to question number 2. It is the reason I have not switched yet.

Technically the shared/reseller servers will be faster, since you are allowed to use most of the resources of the entire server for short amounts of time... Although your site could load faster on a VPS depending on how its configured.

cPanel/WHM will basically be the same. The actual server setup is very similar to a Shared/Reseller server. If you are stumped on an issue with the VPS, we do provide assistance.

For backups, I would recommend just using cPanel backups, which can be configured directly in root WHM.

If you want to learn how to run your own server, our VPS solution is the way to go since the value is great and its managed.

On the other hand, if your web sites are working fine on a Reseller account, and you don't need, or want to do anything out of the ordinary, you might just want to keep the reseller account.
