Default Reseller VS. Shared

Hello,

I currently have a shared hosting plan with Hostgator (the Baby package if that matters). I was just curious: If we were to decide to switch from a shared hosting plan to a reseller plan (say.. the Aluminum package), would there be any difference as to the amount of users on the server we would be on? Would the amount of users on the reseller servers be lower than the amount of users on the shared servers?

I'm just curious because I'd like to know if we should expect lesser CPU usage on a reseller than a shared and/or more room for our site to use resources. :P

Thanks in advance!

There is no exact number of accounts that we put on any server. We fill them to a safe level, usually less than 80%, and then start a new server.

There should be no difference in the quality.

In the perfect world, there is no difference in quality. In the real world...

Both are a shared environment. You will find yourself suspended for over usage just as fast on either type of system. I suspect that the reseller systems are even worse/better than the shared systems because your over usage is costing other people money, so suspensions are likely more common.

Your best bet it to go to Semi-dedicated, then you WILL get more resources and will NOT bother anyone else.

Incorrect, both reseller and shared are held to the same standard.

Yes, I'm sure they are, wink, wink, know what I mean... However, more resellers have been reported being suspended than shared users, but that is however, not a scientific study on the matter.

Do you think it has anything to do with the unrealistic expectations and business practices of some new resellers?

It would be interesting to see the time correlation between opening a reselling account and date of suspension, not that we will, or that HG would make it public. It just seems as if there are a fair number of cloaked inquiries in the pre-sales packages.

But maybe I'm getting too cynical.
