greetings.
  • what are the specs for the reseller systems?h
  • how does hostgator.com determine how many resellers are on one system?
  • are all reseller accounts placed on linux boxes?
  • if i start with a copper account and switch to gold do i or my customers notice any difference (other than i notice more space/bandwidth)?

A server is considered "full" when server load reaches a pre-determined level and adding more accounts would adversely affect performance.

We use Linux servers exclusively, yes.

The upgrade process is absolutely seamless and you and your clients would not be affected in the least bit.

I hope this information helps! If you have more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

from http://forum.hostgator.com/viewtopic.php?t=644 it is stated as raid 5, which is it?

more:
  • does cpanel (or some other interface) allow me to backup all of my customers into a (say) single file for me to offload? (like a big tarball, then bzip2'd or something of the like)
  • to allow new customers domain registration on my reselling system, do i prepay this to you or someone else?
also: do you provide a template for this? (like a domain_reg.html that has all the forms and such for applying for and making payment for a domain..or maybe it is simply redirected elsewhere with my reseller id maybe, not sure about that one )
  • am i able to restrict bandwidth on a speed basis instead of total used for my customers?

CPanel allows you to backup your entire site, including email accounts, subdomains, and other settings with one click. It will generate a single gx file (gzip) and can then be easily re-built on any server that also uses Cpanel. Quick and easy.

We can set you up as an eNom reseller for domains. I am not 100% certain what you receive with this package but I will find out for you and respond here.

I'm not quite sure what you mean here. You are allowed to limit the bandwidth used for each site and can modify this setting (give more/less) at any time.

It is not required to move to a dedicated server. many people are content with just purchasing additional reseller accounts when the time comes. However, if you were to choose to switch to dedicated, you would need to have your files relocated to a new server, therefore the DNS changes would need to re-propagate.

Hope this helps.

i mean, limit my customers to say 128kB/sec max for each domain....i suppose this is more of an issue on a dedicated machine that im controlling completly (is moot when i share with other resellers who may not restrict bandwidth throughput), but was curious if you have this as an option at all.
