Default Reseller Self-Customer

I have a few clients across various hosting companies that I think could benefit from moving to hostgator. I'd like to setup a reseller account and transfer these clients over.

I also currently have a couple baby hosting packages for my own personal use. If I become a reseller can I transfer these domains to myself and essentially pay myself or create a no fee hosting plan?

It seems like I should be able to do this but I also saw where other customers have issues if they are accessing their "clients" account via their own IP. In my case I would be a reseller that manages every aspect of my client's accounts in addition to my own personal accounts.

Yes you'd be able to host your own accounts and HostGator can transfer them for you

You should not have any problem accessing your own WHM and cPanel account. At least I have never experienced it with cPanel ( even though I was on VPS/dedi, not reseller account).

Thanks for the information.

So what is my best course of action to get started with a reseller account? Should I sign as a reseller and then submit a ticket to have my existing personal domains converted over?

Or should I just have it all done via a support ticket?

Why not just run through the steps of transferring an account as if you were a new customer? Thats what I did when I signed up for reseller hosting. Granted my account wasn't with HG but the process would be the same;

-Unlock the account with your current registrar
-Get the transfer code
-Go to your reseller page and sign up as a new customer with a domain transfer

I did it that way to test my WHMCS setup and found an issue, corrected the issue and tried with another account. It went well...

So you see, it would pay to try it that way as a check of your site. If I had asked HG to do it for me I wouldn't have found the issue and it would have made my real first sale go bad. It's good that you have several accounts to test with first.

Just my opinion...

BTW...

I made a promo code that made the whole thing no charge to me... Another good test.

If you are transferring the WEBSITE, but not the DOMAIN registration, then HG *might* transfer your non-HG sites for free. They probably *will not* transfer your existing Baby accounts. For either scenario, get an official response from sales@hostgator.com before you proceed.
