reseller question

i asked this in another thread but wanted ot move it to a proper thread for its own discussion. with a reseller acount, what happens with traceroutes? servernames? if i have my own name servers, will that make a difference for traceroute? i assume not. wht if i buy a dedicated ip? basically i dont want traceroute to end in host300.hostgator.com then my customers know i am on hostgator and a reseller. somsone mentioned with dedicated it ends in the planet or another anonymous name, but not with reseller accounts. plus there are many ways in the control panel to see the name of the server aka phpinfo for one. what comes up in a reseller account? i assume hostx.hostgator.com? would buying an ip get you your own virtual servername? i assume with a dedicated server it would be server.yourdomain.com? another benefit of dedicated i guess. thanks

Reseller servers get the hostname xx.websitewelcome.com, not xxx.hostgator.com. A dedicated IP won't change that. With a dedicated, you can make it whatever you want.
