Reseller plans

Hi,

I've only recently ever heard about reselling. I design and develop sites myself so I thought it might be a good venture for me. I was wondering about others experiences. In particular start up costs. I'm not 100% sure how it all comes together.

I would host my design site on a reseller plan and i'd also probably make another website that sells hosting and also domain names. I gather than you can get templates from Hostgator for these shops??

I know i'd need a merchant account and have read the links from here about them.

what i'd like to knwo is what kind of start-up and maintanence costs are there?

For instance i clicked on Paypal as a merchant account and its very cheap with set up fees and transaction fees, but I know that webmaster pro plans are $30 a month.

What other costs are there when involved in a reseller plan on a whole??


Finally, I was wondering about shop templates. Are they pretty much install and your up and running? Or do they take some work. For instance i've seen GoDaddys seem to just do everything for you. Answer all your queries on your behalf, give u a shap and its good to go in minutes.


How easy is it to modify these HostGator shops too, as i'd like to make it with my own design, but don't want to risk messing up any of the backend code needed for it to be functional?

all of the reseller packages come with billing software from either autopilot or whmcs. I prefer to use www.whmcs.com myself.

Merchant accounts are easy to setup including both 2checkout.com and paypal.com

As I go over the thread, I believe hostgator have services you are seeking, adding to the fact that they have customized services. If you happen to prefer other templates, you can also get some free templates online but I strongly suggest that you will take all the services offered on the package. In that way, you will maximize the potential of the services that offered by hostgator.
