Default Reseller Limits

Hi there,

I just spoke to 2 live chat technicians who gave me different information so I thought it best to make sure of which is correct.

Are reseller account limits (e.g. 24gb space/240gb transfer for aluminium) applicable to the entire reseller account, or to the individual cPanel accounts which are re-sold.

Secondly, are the limits on inodes, CPU, processes, outgoing e-mails etc. as described in the terms of use also applicable to the entire reseller account or to individual cPanel accounts?

If they are applicable to the entire reseller account, I was wondering which of the above can be limited on each cPanel account (i.e. if you can set quotas of space/bandwidth/emails etc.) for each re-sold account.

I was told by one of the technicians that if one of the cPanel accounts exceeds its limits it will be suspended, rather than the reseller account as a whole; so which limits does this refer to?

Thanks!

The reseller disk space and bandwidth quotas are for the entire account. You cannot set up client accounts so that the combined disk space/bandwidth is more than the reseller limit. You will have to set up a package for your main account (used as the reseller account) and set up your main domain using that package which will use however much of the quota you wish.

The inode and other limits are per client account. If an account exceeds the quotas you set up it will be suspended until you increase the quotas.

For definitive answers you should contact sales or support through a ticket or email. Live Chat is good for many simple questions but if you get conflicting advice you should contact support through email to find out which answer is correct.

And you should file a ticket about the conflicting information, giving the names of the two live chat reps and the times of the chats. One of them needs to be correcting before telling other people the wrong thing.

Yes, please do so. I'd like to look into it and ensure that the representative is given the proper information. If you don’t remember their names, you can send me the approximate date and times you contacted us and the name you used during chat. I should be able to find it that way as well.

Thanks.
