Reseller Hosting

I currently have a business package account but I am gearing up to offer freelance web design which I want to bundle with hosting.

I am happy with my personal/business site remaining on my business package but understand that I need to still have a domain and master account setup with the reseller account. Will this limit my ability to use the domain on my business account as my identity when managing the reseller account? In other words if my business account is soundvessel.com and I use soundvesseldev.com as a master account on the reseller account will I be able to customize notifications etc to use my soundvessel.com addresses etc?

While I understand the Unlimited thing looks nice on the business account, be real, how much space/bandwidth is the site using? I'm guessing not even close to 1/10th of the space you get with the Aluminum reseller plan. The only reason these "unlimited" plans exist is because the hosts know that few, if any of their clients will ever use much more than a couple hundred megs of the space, and probably less than 5 gigs of data transfer. ANy site using more than that will violate most TOS for such plans.

In other words, make your business site your primary reseller domain.

My business/personal site is likely to grow beyond a few hundred megs. I am a multimedia artist planning to host original compositions, duel screen wallpapers, and other various multimedia projects for free along with information about my paid services. Having it separate would make it much easier to move to dedicated hosting without disturbing my clients who generally just need simple static or wordpress based sites for text and images.

While I appreciate your input my original question is still unanswered. I just need to confirm I will not have any problems branding and using email notifications etc from a domain other than the one used for a reseller master account. I understand I will still have to use the seperate login and that the private dns will be based on the master domain but would I be limited in any other way?

Let me just try and put it as simply as I can.

My business site on Business Package: soundvessel.com
Master Domain on Reseller Package: soundvesseldev.com

I understand that:
- private dns will be soundvesseldev.com
- I will of course have to login using soundvesseldev.com info etc

What I want to know:
- Is there anything else I might come across with the reseller package that is displayed to the customer that I can not change to soundvessel.com in regards to contact information, links to my business site, etc?
- Can I set any email notifications etc within the reseller account to use my soundvessel.com email address rather than the master soundvesseldev.com domain

1. other than the DNS there is nothing else that shows to the customer!
2. if NOT, you can always forward info@soundvesseldev.com to info@sounddessel.com

If those are for downloading, I'd check the TOS carefully--the issue with putting them on a shared account isn't bandwidth or space, but that downloads use a lot of processes.

Almost all of the portfolio work will be images and there will be very very few downloadable MP3s of my composition work. If something like that becomes popular I would want to offload it anyhow into another system made more for that kind of work. For the music portion I am just making a few snippets available with the hopes selling electronic copies of my work through other avenues like online e-tailers, like Apple’s iTunes store, Rhapsody, and Napster.

I plan on monitoring everything carefully and also I have been reading on solutions to limit connections to keep active processes down. If anybody has any suggestions of .htaccess tweaks (you guys have limitipconn yet???) or scripts to accomplish this please do let me know.
