Question Reseller hosting, is this right?

I'm not familiar with reseller hosting so please bear with me, is it possible to just use a reseller account to host your own website?

For example, say I got the Aluminum reseller package from hostgator, which comes with 5GB Disk space and 50GB bandwidth, could I then just setup one account (for myself) and just host my own site on there with 5GB of space and 50GB of bandwidth for my own site?

Also, my site has an Invision Power Board forum and I have seen it mentioned in other topics about a connection limit of 25 connections for MySQL, would this also apply if it was my own site hosted through my reseller account as outlined above?

Question Re: Reseller hosting, is this right?

I have also seen reviews on hostgator reseller packages stating that the ammount of webspace and bandwidth advertised is far less than what you actually get?

Is this true? or do you really have 5GB of webspace and 50GB bandwidth with the Aluminum reseller package?

Yes, you can host your own site(s) only, if it's only one site you can use all the space and bandwidth for it

Yes, it's 25 simultaneous connections per domain.

I don't know about reviews, but I am a HG reseller and I get exactly what is advertised

Maybe I'm missing something here but if you aren't going to be reselling, why get a reseller plan? You can get a Swamp plan with more disk space and b/w for less money..

The cost of the reseller plans includes overhead, like WHM Autopilot, so it would not be a good idea to get a reseller plan if one big account is that that is needed.
