Question Reseller hosting Quote.

Hello,
I am SaN-DeeP Community Administrator for Tech-Arena http://www.tech-arena.com
We are planning to go for a reseller package, which will also allow us to host few more forums, professionally.

I would like to know the benefits of going for a reseller account compared to a normal hosting account and this important questions below:

1. Security on server. (as this is a shared hosting)

2. Backups provision (Do you provide any free daily backup provisions)

3. We need port 119 open on server for newsgroups integration, we use this port to fetch/send news posts only from Microsoft Servers. (msnews.microsoft.com this is the primary requirement)

4.
A. We need a minimum 10 mysql db
B. 40 GB Monthly Data Transfer
C. 3 GB Web Space
D. Minimum of 200 subdomains/email/ftp

5. How many additional domain names/sites are allowed to host ?
We have 5 other domain names registered which needs to be redirected to www.tech-arena.com and as stated above we will be starting another few sites/forums on current account.

6.
A. We have Cpanel Access to our site, can you people do the complete transfer/setup for us ? setting ftp accounts, subdomains, email accounts again ?
B. What other features we get on your services apart from Cpanel
C. Do you have SPAM/ANTIVIRUS filtering enabled on your email servers.
D. How are we going to manage Billing/Accounts for our customers.

7. Do you provide a 24*7*365 support? How soon are users queries answered.

8. Do we get a shared SSL too ? (We have plans to start our online store, Can you manage security of ecommerce sites ?)

9. We will be upgrading to higher needs or a dedicated server when we have our store up do we have provision for dedicated servers ?

10. Can our reseller plan get upgraded, if in future our needs/requirements increase ?

11. Do we have phone support available after we become your customers ?

12. Our site/forums has minimum of 40 users online anytime of the day, and reaches 300+ easily during peak hours and max of 560 till day concurrent till day can your servers manage this loads on shared hosting ?

13. Do you have a money back guarantee if make a 6 months payment or 1 year payment, If I have consumed 3 months with you and not satisfied will we get a return back for remaining 9 months, If we have paid for 1 year ?

14. Do we have custom name server solution. ?

15. How many hours will it take for our site to move on your servers and get back online once, we have paid and become your customer.

17. What is the additional (New) domain registration charges.

18. Please recommend us some plans which suit best to our needs (provide us direct links to those plans, else reply back in this email.)

19. Do we get shell access on your server ?

20. What will be the server configuration on which we will get an account ? We run on Linux with php+mysql on existing host.

(Or any 2 big technical forums/websites running on other software scripts)

Kindly reply BACK asap (also include your sales contact nos. if any), as we need to move our host at the earliest.

You really need to look at

http://www.hostgator.com/

I think at least 80% of your questions are answered in various tutorials, FAQ, and on the pages about the resellers and dedicated servers. Right on the main page, it mentions dedicated servers.

I will answer your questions, anyway.

1. The servers should be pretty secure.

2. not sure abut this

3. Is this port the common one used for this purpose? If so, then I'm sure you can use it.

4.

A. Take a look at the plans for shared hosting and reseller. All resellers have unlimited MySQL databases.

B. Aluminum reseller plan has 50 gigabytes bandwidth

C. The aforementioned aluminum reseller plan comes with 5 gigabytes disk space

D. All reseller plans come with unlimited of all of these

5. If you get the reseller, then unlimited; either as addon domains, or as hosted sites

6.

A. Not sure, but I think you'd probably have to do the transfer

B. http://www.hostgator.com/resellers.shtml

C. no idea on this one

D. WHM AutoPilot is provided for free. You can use any billing software you want.

7. E-Mail support is pretty good; also there are these forums, and live support for basic questions.

8. You can either get a shared ssl or buy a private one

9. http://www.hostgator.com/dedicated.shtml

10. See the FAQ. yes, you can upgrade.

11. Read the site; yes you have phone support.

12. Does the forum take up a lot of resources? If you don't go over your bandwidth, you should be fine.

13. 30-day money-back guarantee

14. ns1.yourdomain.com and ns2.yourdomain.com, again discussed on www.hostgator.com

15. After signing up, your account will be set up within 20 minutes. It then takes up to 48 hours for the dns to propagate.

17. They can be registered with whomever you prefer. Here, they are $15 a year I believe.

18. Just look at the plan list at http://www.hostgator.com/resellers.shtml

19. No. Probably on the dedicated servers, or else you wouldn't be able to do anything.

20. This is Linux, but I'm not sure what type. There is php 4.3.10, with MySQL 4.0.18 I think.

21. I can't remember the answer, but Hostgator's web site answers this question.

22. I really don't know where these servers are; probably in the US

23. This forum runs on vbulletin. I don't know of two others.

My final conclusion; RTFM! :-D

Post Re: Reseller hosting Quote.

Thanks for answering programmer, even the email communication is fantastic here, i got replies within few mins from Ben.

there are just few questions/points worrying us.

1. Being new on Hardware Level Setup on Hosting, What my question is, our current server was hacked and we lost data for last 3 days (this happened with all the 66 websites running on current server, they lost last 3 days data completely files+db too) I wont to know, if there is a provision for this kind of loss ?

2. We are currently using a normal hosting account with only tech-arena.com running on host, we are not running as re-seller on existing hosting provider.
So I think you can do this move for us, else we wont be able to open an account with you coz it is not possible for us to download the data locally and upload again on your end.
What we can do is (we will setup a ftp access for you on current host, which will allow you to download the data on your end) PleaSe note, this is the prime requirement again for us to get started with you.
We only I have one domain/website on existing host and running as a normal client.

3. We will start a Aluminum Reseller plan, if that goes for a toss we will upgrade immediately, our prime concern is moving/changing the existing host. (because of the data loss he had if we cannot trust them now)

Regards,
SaN-DeeP

Hello san-deep.

As far as data backups go, we offer 2 types: RAID and weekly off-site. For daily backups we recommend that each user setup their own backup process via a CRON job (available in CPanel).

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to provide site transfer services, but I am confused as to why you are unable to download your site files yourself.

We can walk you through the process and would be happy to do so, so let us know if you need any help.
