Default Reseller/Domain Registrations Question

Hey there,
I have been researching HG reseller account info in-depth, and have one question - about client domain registration and payment. I saw a suggestion in the knowledge base section to not use an automated domain registration process because of fraud. I assume they mean - me getting charged for the domain, and then the clients` payment not going through...? Doesn't the payment get sent through the payment gateway to be charged? I must be missing something. I want real-time domain-selecting and payment processing. Thanks very much for any help.

Yes but let's say it a stolen c/card or card used without the owners permission, you will get a charge back from the payment processing company.

It's no different from any business taking c/cards without the card present.

Okay, I get it. Thanks. I have another request to go with the rest -
Would some of you resellers mind describing your process for this to avoid bad cards, or do you mostly just take your chances?

While what David notes is true, it's not the most important issue. (Lots of internet businesses do automated realtime credit card processing via an ecommerce app and their gateway.)

What's more germane is the possibility of fraud specific to domain registration...even Godaddy makes people verify they're human, via a captcha-like gadget.

Smallish sellers of registration are too vulnerable to mals, mal bots, the possibility of spammer/disposable domains, and other potential problems to allow domains to be registered through them sight unseen. It's only sensible to review the human and potential domain before putting the transaction through.

Much easier to prevent someone from registering "chainlettersecrets.com", "undetectablescams.info" or "explosiveshippedanywhere.net" than trying to straighten things out after it happens.

Without a human reviewing the info, someone could register a disposable domain with fake details, spam until stopped, and skip, leaving the unfortunate reseller to make things right. Everywhere, including whatever blacklists his/her own domain name may have accidentally landed on as a result of being associated with the "domainemy".

Domainemy= domain + enemy
