Hi All,
A couple questions. I just sold part of a hosting business I have had for 15 years. I am considering getting rid of my last dedicated server, and going with Hostgator Reseller plan as I only have a handful of long tern clients left. I currently use WHMCS. First Questions are: Nameservers... can I setup custom name servers on a different domain than the one I sign up with for my reseller account. (i.e. my reseller account is myhostingbiz.com but my nameservers are mydns1.com & mydns2.com) I see that I will have to have hostgator setup SSL, instead of doing it myself now (Don't like having to pay for this BTW!!) When I request an SSL install can I also request the IP from a different class C? Since I will be trying to import my WHMCS database, will it matter that it is a different main domain, and nameservers? (This may be a WHMCS question as opposed to HG) Lastly... I have bounced around the site looking for as much detail on the reseller plan as I can find... if there is a more detailed page(s) somewhere, please share it! Thanks! |

OK... another question. Since I assume my primary domain will have WHM, and I will need to setup WHMCS on this one... it will need SSL.
Do you get multiple IP's on a reseller account. Can I specify, or will one be the primary IP, then all the shared accounts go on another one? Or will this need to be done individually. Also I do have a hosting account that includes a dedicated IP, if I set this up via WHMCS, will it be able to setup real time... or would I have to let it setup without dedicated IP, order one from HG, then move the account? Thanks again! |

Best to ask via ticket over at WHMCS.

If you get a SSL cert installed on any cpanel accounts they will get individual IP's. The standard accounts will be allocated an IP, from about 5 IP's that your server is using.

The latter.

Thanks striddy for the responses... But a couple more questions.
I have now checked out the WHM & CPanel demo's. I see many WHM options are not available for resellers. One think that jumps out is retore of backups. In the event a customer needs a backup, and does not have a copy to use, do I submit a support ticket? I think I saw somewhere backups were rotated weekly... I have to assume there are daily backups as well. Also, is there a way to edit the cPanel front end at all? One reason is the attracta links at the bottom of a users cPanel. 1) I don't want them to see Hostgator links 2) I sell SEO services... I don't want them to see links for a competitive service, since that what they are paying me for, and why they have this account! Thanks again! |

There are no HG links in the reseller cpanel accounts. No need to edit cpanel.

Without knowing you budget you may want to consider a level 3 VPS with cPanel if you want to have root access to WHM and install your own certificates.
