I was wondering how I could go about changing my registrar ... right now I registered my domain with register.com and who I really really hate ... they cant seem to get it together anymore and will not give me access to my account .... anyhow .. to make a long story short ... I want hostgator to be my registrar ... how would I go about doing this?

Find a new registrar and follow their instructions.

Be one yourself! We've been using bulkregister.com quite sucessfully and we can create/modify/delete domains at will (still subject to propagation delays, of course). We also tried opensrs.org, but we like bulkregister.com better. Besides, opensrs.org is a Canadian company while bulkregister.com is US based. Helpful if you run into any problems in the future. Naturally, if you're based in Canada, opensrs.org is a better choice from a legal perspective.

One drawback with opensrs.org that made us go to bulkregister.com is with the former, you have to pay into an "escrow" account in advance before you can start creating accounts. bulkregister.com lets you pay as you go.

Hope that helps.
