It seems that I've stumbled on an issue with HostGator reseller accounts and private SSL certificates. Here's the rub....
If you get your web hosting through HostGator you can buy from HostGator a private SSL certificate that includes the dedicated IP for $75. However, if you get your web hosting through a HostGator reseller, or if you are a HostGator reseller that wants to provide a private SSL certificate for one of your clients (or yourself), if you go through HostGator to get the certificate you will pay $75 + $2/month for a dedicated IP, making the yearly total a whopping $99. Seems that HostGator ought to give resellers a break on private SSL certificates so the reseller can at least match HostGator's price for SSL certs. TM |

You don't have to buy the SSL from HG. You can buy one from Namecheap for about $20 and pay HG $2/m for the IP and $10 to install the ssl.

Namecheap's DNS system has been having serious problems for two days, hope you have your nameservers somewhere else.

Namecheap SSL's would not be related to this issue.
