Default Redirects

Hi there,

I've been trying to redirect my domain name to automatically go to the message board and, at the begining, I got an error message saying that what I was doing would work as it would never resolve (or something liek that, I didn't copyu it down and I haven't gotten it again since).

And now, i don't even get that error message as the browser is taking a really long time to do anything.

Anyway, I've tried pretty much every scenario (permanent VS temporary, All Public Domains VS just the one, with www VS with/without www) and nothing seems to work.

Can someone help me? I'm trying to redirect

http://www.embrunlive.ca

to

http://www.embrunlive.ca/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl

thanks

Yeah, sorry I forgot about the redirect that is on there now. My HTML coded redirect is working, but users still see that message for a second. If I were signing up, it would look a little fishy to me that site A is redirecting me to site B.

I was hoping to get a redirect from the host/cpanel side of things that would be invisible from the users point of view.

here's an example of what I'm hoping to do...

www.lonewebsurfer.com

As you can see, it redirects automatically to the actuall url of
http://www.lonewebsurfer.com/forum/YaBB.pl

Is my hardcoded HTML redirect causing a conflict?

YABB has at least one setting deep within its admin panel/settings for specifying the forum URL...just try changing that.

Also, this thread does not concern a suggestion and should not have been posted in this category.

I don't seem to have access to any of the appropriate forums. Kind of sad that a paying customer can not access the entire forum (I will definitely remember this at renewal time)

I've looked a little further into my problem and it seems to be a Redirect Loop. Could you please let me know where I could post my question?

Yabb does not have the clearest admin panel/section to work with. There are at least two places that can affect what's happening, and if they, plus your redirect, conflict, then you'll get the loop.

If the settings are correct, you can achieve want you want transparent to your users, and do it all within Yabb.

I'd try removing the redirect, then go look for the forum URL setting. Try that. If it doesn't work, then you missed another obscure setting and I'll look for it.
