Neutral Reasonably happy

Well First of all the price is very good cant argue with it.

Now responce times are a tad slow at times but thats fair enough.

Now heres where i have the problem.

I only wanted web hosting so i could host a subversion repository.
Hostgator provide svn (a very out of date version 1.1.4) on the servers but will not allow them to have inbound connections.. So why have them in the first place if i cant connect and upload / download my repo via svn://

Next upon asking to have Apache 2.0.59 installed (as svn is supported better on it) i was told no to have a "custom" server i would need to get a dedicated server (erm at nearly $200, and for a personal site somehow it just aint gonna happen). Now part of the reason i am annoyed is that Apache 1.x and 2.x can run side by side on the same server with no problems all you need do is cfg teh htpd.confs to point at the correct IP addresses / virtual hosts, so time for install and cfg on a server is ~5min, with the result you have one very pleased customer, and since apache is free it cost you 10min of your time to make me 1/2 happy to continue hosting here on the long term.

As it stands me going for longer term hosting is getting less likely as i spend time on google looking a provider that will allow me a svn repo with apache 2.

In short to make me a very very happy customer and very likely keep me long term.
1. Update svn to 1.4.3 & allow inbound connections, total time ~10min
2. Install Apache 2 and allow it to be used, ~5min

It really would be a shame to lose an otherwise happy customer over such small but critical issues, looking at it from a business point of view it would be good for hostgator too as you are adding 2 products (which cost nothing) to the list you offer your customers.

I would be happy to pay slightly more for the features i want (eg i would upgrade to swamp level if i had to, or pay a one off fee for them to be available to me).

Hi Ryan,

It's easy to do both your requests however we can't because of security and support reasons. If there was enough demand for this we would setup a server to do this kind of thing, but in all honesty you are the first request I have ever seen myself.

Installing apache would require us to run 2 Apache Daemons. We would love to help you, but in a shared hosting environment something like this just can't be done.

I hope you understand. Thanks!!

You have requests for svn

So there is demand..

I would say a lot of people are seeing these posts and being discouraged.

Fair enough on the apache 2 although it may be worth keeping in mind upgrading all server to apache 2.0.x (may new servers as they come up).
As it offers a lot of improvements over 1.x.

Well due to the fact you won't support Subversion, I have canceled my account as of today and moved to www.linode.com. Their prices are slightly higher and i don't get as many resources but i get excatly what I want.

Thanks for all the support while i was here.
