Hi, my first post

Unless I've missed it somewhere, is there a way of seeing how far up / or down the waiting list your ticket is? If not could this be added to the ticket status?

I've been waiting for about 50 hours to get my site moved (transfered) over, but no sign of it yet. Not moaning, just excited and worried at the same time. lol..

First in, first out...

Give live chat the ticket number -- get them to check to check the status.

If this is in reference to GDF-2407155, it was completed about 10 mins ago.

You may try clearing your Browser Cache and DNS Cache

PS: Comes up fine for me

Sorry, I meant the address to type into my browser, I have tried the one I got in my sign up confirmation email, but this gives me a page cannot be displayed error. I've just tried live chat support, and now I'm being asked to submit a ticket again, or email support.

I can get into my cpanel ok, but not my site.

Are you using this address? http://cameracraniums.com ? If so, aren't you just looking at the site on my old server? cause that has the same address.

You would need to use the IP address given in your sign up email. It will be in the form of http://###.###.###.###/~cpanelusername. The nameservers have not been changed so the URL is going to the old site.

Thanks, that does bring my site up, but I'm sure I'm viewing it on the old server, how will I know? hostgator have set a redirect in my cpanel, that points to the address I use to access it on my old server. I'm getting more confused by the second

What is the IP address of the hostgator server? I'm not sure why you would say that HG set up a redirect in your cPanel to the old server. Some scripts may not work correctly with the IP address since the config file would have the domain entered. You can look at the files on the HG server using FTP or logging into your cPanel and using the File Manager to verify that they are there.

Thanks again, Still very confused as this is all new to me. I can get into the cpanel ok using the ip link in the sign up email , and and can view the files via FTP. All files look like they are there. Are you saying I can't actually view the site live on this new server to check that it's all working correctly?

If I use the ip link to view my site in the email I was sent, I get a hostgator page with a 404 page can't be displayed message.

Even if you use the IPFromHostgator/~yourusername? What makes you think that's on your old server?

Just read a reply to my ticket, it says

"Your site would be at http://74.52.178.130/~cameracr/ now. I'm seeing that the site redirects however from the postinfo.html file. The base URL is set to BaseUrl="http://cameracraniums.com" which may override our temporary URL.

There is an option to use a "hosts" file on your computer. Please let us know if you would like to know how to do edit the host file on your computer to preview your site."

I'm now panicking, as I have no clue how to fix it. and all I get is a internal server error.

I'll have to check this out later when I return from work.

You can look in your cpanel error logs to see why you are getting a 500 error. You will probably find that something in your .htaccess is wrong or should be in a php.ini instead or you have a file or folder set at 777.

Thank you George, my "public_html/forum/index.php" file was indeed set at 777, I set it to 755, and now it's working.

http://cameracraniums.com/forum/

Thanks again

Mick

Ps: Suppose now I've made a mess of the suggestions thread, might be an idea for a mod to clean it up

Your welcome and glad you have it working. Just make sure you have went through everything as folders should be no higher the 755 and files no higher than 644.

As for moving this, you could always report your first post and ask for it to be moved if you want.

Thanks again, I'll make a note of your last post, that will come in very handy.

Looking at my forum the spell check feature is missing. After looking at the forum settings it says,

"You MUST have the pspell library installed on your server and your PHP configuration set up to use the pspell library. Your server DOES NOT appear to have this set up."

Any ideas how to get this one sorted? Is it the server, or folder permissions my end again?

You would need to contact support to determine if the module can be added.

Um, if someone from HG sees this, you should maybe think about changing the bottom link on https://tickets.hostgator.com from https://www.hastgator.com to http://www.hostgator.com as the https version doesn't seem to exist. Just a thought.

I actually can't find this happening on any of the pages. (Maybe I've been up too much lately).

Feel free to email an example of it happening to drew@hostgator.com

What he is saying is that the link at the bottom of the page at https://tickets.hostgator.com goes to address https://www.hostgator.com but in fact does not show a working page....

unless you are planning on putting the hostgator site on a secure ip, you should probably drop the 's' off of https://www.hostgator.com....

I believe that is what he was referring to...

Login into the control panel of the Ticket system,
Right down the bottom at the CopyRight statements it links to https://www.hostgator.com Which doesn't exist and should link to the NON SSL site.

OK tried that.

Tried the live chat, (clicked support), was told to submit a ticket or email support, so I sent a ticket, and then was told

"For the issue of missing spell check feature on your forum please contact support@hsotgator.com. They will assist you better to resolve this issue."

So did that yesterday, and haven't had an answer. Think I'll just live without the spell check for now.

Don't think I've quite got the hang of the support system yet. lol..
