Quick Setup [Unmanaged Dedicated]

Hey HostGator visitors,

Just because I instantly got my dedicated server, I feel that I should write a review. (within about a hour and a half after registration)
I had been contacted about 15 minutes after paying to verify my billing information and physical address, I have not been contacted by a host, ever, to check on this information. That really got me.

Now I am moving my servers, currently no issues besides Game Servers for cPanel, everything is running smoothly. (overloads server around 75+ load average, but substained by killall cpgsd.pl, contacted darren)

I would recommend hostgator to anyone who asks for a new host.
Now if only there was colocation ^^ probably not possible with ThePlanet, though.

Or about 14 hours after the original review...
Right now a lot of problems with yum on my server and I can't do much but wait for it to be fixed, I don't have any idea what has been going on with my server for the past few hours that HostGator support has been on it.

It appears yum was compiled from source, which I had not done. I don't really have any clue what has happened, who set it up, or what's going on. I just hope this is resolved soon so I can start my small game hosting and get my client's game servers back online D:

But on the bright side, the response times aren't very long and I see hostgator staff on the server soon after a response from the details provided (but am very limited on it cause all I've done is a WHM 'Xfer' between servers.)

I'm hoping to see the server working without many flaws soon (as nothing can be flawless)

It seems that your rpm database was corrupted on your server. I forced a rebuild of the rpm database and yum now should work as intended.

I have updated your ticket regarding this, please respond to it with any issues you may see as a result.

Hmm that was a very strange incident but it does appear to be working now.

Just a two-week update.

So far we've done great with getting the server configured properly, I have had some lag issues on GameServers but that was not of HostGator's fault, we were actually having some serious DoS attacks. I updated our security & firewall, everything from the DoSer is now blocked.

Yesterday our server started to reboot itself but that was cause of ThePlanet... Had to unblock a few ranges of IPs to fix that. No worries about that.

I'm impressed by the hostgator staff, very impressed. It's hard to find a reliable host that "claims" anything will be up more than it usually is and not give what they say to give.
