Default Quick Q about Multiple Domains

Hey there,

I have a question about the shared hosting plans and the 'unlimited' domains allowed. I plan to set up a reseller account sometime in the future, but for now I have no need of the extra features.

My real question is, in a shared plan, how are the mulitple domains set up? If I have my main domain set up at www.mainsite.com and have another domain set up at www.alternatesite.com on the same account... typing in www.alternatesite.com will do what:

Transfer the browser to a specifield subdirectory in the mainsite account while displaying www.alternatesite.com in the browser window. (In other words, the end user has no knowledge of the main account)

Transfer the browser as above, however display www.mainsite.com/alternatesite in the browser window. (Making the end user aware that this site is a division of the main site)

or

Transfer the browser directly to www.mainsite.com

My guess (and my hope) would be the first option, but I wanted to make sure before I went ahead and signed up. If I'm correct, you can set up a parked domain to link directly to the main account domain, so I don't think that an additional domain (not set up as parked) would do that. Again, though, I just want to make sure.

Thanks!

I am not sure of this my self, but you can always call 866-96-GATOR or request live chat on the upper right of most pages. They could clear up your question for you.

You will not regret signing up with HG!

It works like this if you use an addon domain.

If you use a parked domain it will go to the main domain, however the parked domain will stay in the address bar.

Addon domains are designed so that you can build many different websites in the same account all with different folders.

Parked domains are designed to allow you to have one website with many addresses.

These are NOT dependent on your hosting company, all who offer the service, do it the same way. Some simply do not offer the service, HG offers both.
