Default Quick DNS question

I've just switched my hosting to Host Gator Hatchling account and I'm very happy so far. The transition has been smooth and fast. I just have a quick question - after about 12 hours I was able to access my website through my domain URL but it suddenly stopped working. Is it normal while the DNS is propagating for the website to spontaneouly go offline? Will it fluctuate for a couple of days, or is there a problem? Sorry if this is a pain, I'm a little anxious about my site since I got screwed by my previous host

It is not uncommon for the site to behave as you describe until the domain has fully propagated. This is especially true for accessing using dialup as the ISP generally has several servers for DNS and all may not be updated with your new IP. If you give the domain name folks here can check and see how it is working for them.

It's loading fine for me and a check of the DNS at dnsstuff.com looks good.

Not a problem, just different ISPs finish the propagation at different time.

this will also depend on where you're accessing it from. when you surf from work, for example, it may be set to cache copies of pages, etc.
