Hello,
I am considering upgrading for a shared to a VPS account but have several questions hoping you can answer them: 1. Will you move my site from my current shared Host Gator account to the VPS account? 2. What Inode limit does apply for a VPS account? I'm raching the 250.000 inodes limit on my shared account so a 1 Million Inode limit is what I am looking for. 3. What sent emails / hour limit does apply for a VPS account? 4. Will the speed be better on a VPS account than on a shared one? 5. Will you also perform a weekly backup on Semi Managed VPS? Thank you, Nicole |

Yes we can do that for you free of charge. 2. What Inode limit does apply for a VPS account? I'm raching the 250.000 inodes limit on my shared account so a 1 Million Inode limit is what I am looking for. The limit is set to 1 million, but we can set it higher if there is a legit reason. 3. What sent emails / hour limit does apply for a VPS account? There is no limit. 4. Will the speed be better on a VPS account than on a shared one? You will be allowed to use all of the resources of the VPS when ever you want.. technically a shared account will be more powerful since we allow you to use all of the CPU power when needed. 5. Will you also perform a weekly backup on Semi Managed VPS? Yes we perform weekly backups on VPS. Quote:

You can do a lot more with VPS, then a Shared environment. If you are running a couple of PHP driven websites, I would recommend having someone run PHP as a module, and install e-accelerator, which will cache your PHP scripts and improve performance.
There are several ways to increase the speed of a site with a VPS since there is a lot more control. Quote:
thank you for your reply. My sites are thunting.com/smf and detektorforum.de/smf and they load very slow compared to other forums using the same software but hosted by different companies. Hence I would like to improve loading times / speed and was thinking about moving to a VPS. However if this will maybe even give me less speed it wouldn't make sense? I am most of the time using less then 1% of my shared enviornmenst resources. Could you please advice me what to do? Thank you! |

Nicole I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but my main reason for moving to VPS was speed & so far I have noticed all my sites load faster than when I was on shared.
Also I have had lots of questions & most everyone in tech support has been GREAT!! with help & Especially Gator Dave who has gone the extra mile on every question. You could always try VPS but leave your shared account up for a month or two while you decide if it will be better. While running both accounts you could compare load times side by side even. |
