Hi, we have a website hosted on a PIV 2Mhz with 1GB ram. However, due to the ISP we are using, our website starts lagging (not responding well) when 30 or more users are connected.
I looked at the Shared Hosting Plan. It seems the Queen plan already statisfies our current need. I have a few questions tho: 1. Do you have a problem if our scripts use FullText search on a 1GB MySql database? (if you have MySQL 4.0+ with query_cache_size enabled, each search should be done within seconds) 2. Do you have any CPU usage restriction? (I am not trying to abuse any server though )3. Does your server allow .htaccess, specifically with rewrite rules? 4. Our server currently uses Windows, so there will be a lot of path changing to all of our scripts if we switch to a UNIX server. What is your server's absolute path? 5. Is there any scripts your company prohibit? 6. What is the connection upload speed? Thank you very much for your time. Alex |

7. Does transfer between MySQL database and scripts (within the server) counted in the bandwidth?
8. If I upload my site to hostgator to get started, does the bandwidth counted? |

Any mysql site that has around 30 users at a time is going to be very very server intensive. There's no sure way to know other then watching the site in action on our servers, but I think it would be safe to say your site needs a semi dedicated hosting solution at the least.
We don't have any semi dedicated plans listed on our site but I do have someone looking to split his current dedicated server with. semi dedicated would be $75 a month and come with 200 gigs bw 20 gigs space. E-mail us at sales@hostgator.com if your interested in this and we shall answer any questions / provide with ordering details. Our general rule is any site using 25% (average for the day) of either the servers cpu or ram we notify them they will have to move off our shared hosting environment. A site with 30 users on it that is database driven is most likely using well over that. Uploading doesn't count towards bandwidth. 1. Do you have a problem if our scripts use FullText search on a 1GB MySql database? No we don't have a problem with that but once again any site using over 25% of a shared hosting server, we will have to boot. 3. yes 4. /home/username/public_html 5. Nothing specific, but anything that is using all the servers cpu will be banned. 6. We don't cap anything on our side, and as far as your upload speed there is no way for me to answer that as theres are many different factors such as your location, and your connection speed. (no way to know unless you test it) 7. No bandwidth is used locally when scripts are running. In all honesty It sounds like mosts host will be kicking your site from cpu usage / memory. You might want to consider the semi dedicated.
