Hi there,
I am looking for a hosting solution that will be able to support between 5-10 wordpress sites, possibly more in the future. I understand the hatchling plan is out. Could running so many wordpress installations cause any problems with performance, is there an amount of installations you'd recommend I don't go above? Would I see any noticable difference in the performence of my wordpress sites If I went for the business plan as opposed to the baby plan? Also I know you allow for unlimited MySQL databases, but is there a limit to the size each one can be? |

You won't see any performance difference with any of the shared plans. They all run on the same servers. The only things that change are the "extras" that you get with each plan - the ability to host more domains, a dedicated IP, etc.
Whether you can run X number of WP installations on a plan depends on all kinds of factors, like the number of visitors, the plugins you're using, and so on. It's like that classic question, "How long is a string?" There's no limit on the size of a database you create. However, if you've got a humongous database, you're probably going to start running into CPU limits when you access that database, unless you're very, very diligent about having it properly indexed, and having your queries optimized. ahh ok, thanks for clearing that up
![]() Just one last question, would I benefit from having a dedicated IP? or rather what would the benefits be? Cheers! |

You need a dedicated IP if you want to use a domain-specific SSL. If you're just using the shared SSL that's available, browsers will complain that the domain name doesn't match the SSL (which it won't - the SSL is for the server, not for your domain) which, in turn, removes most of the "confidence factor" for your site visitors. So, if you're going to do ecommerce of some sort, a dedicated IP is pretty much essential.
Beyond that, there's not much point in having one, AFAIK. |

I doubt there would be any need for it, no ecommerce plans as of yet

If your sites are getting any amount of decent traffic it would be better for each of them to reside in their own cPanel account so they don't all share the resource limitations of an individual account. You might consider a reseller account to this end.
