Question Questions questions

Hi
I'm looking at the re-seller Aluminium plan, basically as I understand it's a bit more secure when you get a number of sites, and because I indirectly sell hosting/maintenance anyway with the sites I make. And I need more space and bandwidth and a supplier who will communicate if required!
A few questions:
I currently have two cPanel accounts with two hosts elsewhere, which I'd like to bring in. To what extent can you help with this?
Host A includes, under the root domain , a mambo site and a couple of other bits. like phpadsnew. I would want to preserve all of this - but not have this as the new 'root domain' with Hostgator.
Host B is a cPanel account with various domains and Joomla installations. There is no 'root account' in that it uses a 'virtual domain'.
All domains are registered with third parties so can be pointed where I like.
So if I moved this lot into one Aluminium account (or move the Host A stuff first perhaps), does it need a 'root domain' like XYZ Hosting.com so when clients log into their cPanel that's what they see? Can I use one of the domains currently registered with Host B for this?
Does Awstats data come over too when cPanel sites are moved, as that would be great?
In terms of what clients could do, can one either significantly limit what they can do in cPanel, or can they just be offered webmail/access to their stats, as I don't really want to offer 'everything' as I don't feel I'd be able to support it. However the automatic registration facility sounds useful from WHM, with PayPal.
On backups, is the only facility offered the cPanel 'Full backup (which I've found unreliable for databases)' or manual backups using phpMyAdmin/FTP? I think 'Host B' offered daily, weekly and monthly backups, and I make my own. I have a cron job that backs up a database with Host A - would that migrate?
From a re-seller account, is it possible to downgrade to a hosting account if it doesn't work out?
Finally, is there a toll free phone support from the UK, or even Skype or a paid-for line that can be used?
Lots of questions: thanks in advance for the answers!

Jimmy

Your Stats will be transfered from cpanel to cpanel.

I believe HG will transfer your sites for you and then you can make DNS changes

You will need a domain whether new or already registered for you account.

WHM does not handle billing and auto setup, but WHMAP does and is free with the account.

You will have the ability to give mail type cpanels that don't offer all the extra cpanel features.

Welcome on the forum,
All whst you ask seems easy and as a reseller HG do the transfer for you up to 20 domains. The fullr transfer will be done in your case having cpanels.
All what you have to do is to fill the transfer form.
You can also ask support to give an eye an give them the login urls logins ans pwds.
I have a similar set. They is no reason to downgrade, considere as a reseller account and x shared acconts like you have. The only I recommand is that you use a different domain for the resseller account as these ones you have already.
For the DB (And other) backups, they are a lot of answers in the forum. For myself, I use a php/cron.
Payd for sure, Skipe works also.
you have all this here:
http://www.hostgator.com/support.shtml and here
http://support.hostgator.com/index.p...gebase&_a=view

Yes the stats and the mails, filters, ... are coming with the moving.
Let some time before you move the DNS and close the precedent sites for tests. Some minor adjustements can be neccessary due to versioning (PHP, Mysql, ....) modules loaded or not, ...

Hi
Thanks for the useful info. It all looks good.
Bit confused as I kind of thought staff would answer - or are you staff? Do I need to email sales to confirm stuff?
Also can't find info about UK phone/skype support, and what backups are on offer. And am I right in thinking you aren't allowed to sell on normal web hosting accounts - you have to get the re-seller?
Cheers again
jimmy

No, we aren't staff, this is a peer support forum. Sometimes staff jumps in with the HG logo, mostly if there something not answered or unclear.
You can have official answers for
Techical questions support@hostgator.com
Limitations abuse@hostgator.com
And sales@hostgator.com

Here the phones etc.

Yes you are allowed to make sales, and, surprising, even the domains and your reseller account vs other hosts.
