Hello. I've spent hours researching web hosts. I'm very interested in your baby plan (9.95).
I will be sharing this plan with a friend and our focus for now will be setting up personal sites and learning as much as we can..... I know that the Baby plan does not include ASP or JSP support......if we decide to dabble in learning these, how much would it cost to upgrade? I see your Swamp plan has "Chilisoft Asp"....I'm just starting to learn all these terms... is this good ole ASP for supporting server side scripts? Does the Swamp plan support JSP as well(which I understand as support for Java Applets). Is it true that all plans support javascript and is asking this question kinda like asking if it supports html? I just see it as a feature listed on some sites, and not others, but I assume it would be universally provided. (javascript has nothing to do with Java for newbies, learning like me, who might read this.) This email is also my test of your customer service so I haven't dug too deep into the FAQ's....yet. Thanks for any information. Michael Las Vegas |

We do support ASP, which is Chilisoft ASP. We no longer support JSP because of the problems it caused us though.

JSP is needed for Java Server Pages, not Java support. And yea, the Javascript questions is kinda like asking support for HTML. lol, anything client side will work, along with PHP. Not many programs use ASP anyway for your question about ASP.

Thank you both for your responses.
I signed up for a baby account and am very happy I did so. Getting up and running was very easy. I'm impressed! The fact that hostgator allows monthly payment is the icing on the cake. THANK YOU! |

Btw, posting here "to test support" is perhaps not a fair test. While HG staff do indeed post here, these forums are definitely billed as "Peer Support Forums", and that's what you usually get.
Often you'll see people posting how infuriated they are that they don't get prompt HG responses in here, but there's no real promise of that. We do, of course, hope they're reading... Welcome to the community and have fun with your sites and your learning! -Jeff_S |
