hi. i have attempted to get some clarification on this through chatting with tech support people online and in emails, but i get only very short (as short as possible, it seems) responses which do not help me to understand what is going on. i know the support team is very busy, but I feel if they spent a little extra time making sure I am comfortable with their response, am satisfied, understand etc., I think that would be well worth their time in terms of providing good customer service.
I am not writing this as a review/suggestion or complaint, I would simply like to have my questions answered where I have not had luck getting information from the hostgator support staff so far. i have the baby croc hosting plan and am not a reseller. when i signed up online for the account, i opted to have hostgator register my domain name for me. a few days later, i checked whois, and brent oxley was listed as the registrant. fine. i emailed hostgator support to have my own information as the registered owner of the domain name (please correct me if I've misunderstood this). They told me to sign up for an ENOM account via their website, which I now have, and they have "pushed" my domain over to my ENOM account. OK, now I have my name in the whois. In my last email to sales(or billing maybe it was), I asked "Does this mean I pay ENOM for my domain name renewal fee?" and the answer was something like "you would pay them anyway even if it was still in our name." I am not clear what this means. it appears that i am now controlling the domain name via ENOM. I do not see where hostgator is involved with the domain name anymore other than hosting the site. 1)Let me ask again very plainly, when I pay my renewal fee, will i send my money to ENOM or to hostgator? 2)Do I *OWN* my domain name since I have changed the whois info to myname, and I control it through enom? Thank you. |

2 ) You 100% own it as hostgator just provides the hosting once the domain is in your enom |
