Default Questions before I sign up

Hi,
I'm shopping around for a web hosting servce and had some specific questions about HostGator. The plan that would suite me best would be the Swamp plan. Here are the questions I have:

1. What is the maximum number of emails you can send per hour? per day? I have a phplist group that I send newsletter to each month. There are now 200, but I expect that to grow. Is there some sort of a php cron job I can execute to send out a given number of emails per hour until they are all sent out?
2. What is meant by unlimited bandwidth. Is it really true there is no limit to the bandwidth?
3. Is there a maximum number of files that can be stored in your domain? (I found out that Hostican limits you to 70,000)
4. Basically what I have is a website with WordPress, pHpList, and Coppermine in it with I'd guess about 10K pagehits per day. Does anyone forsee a problem with Swamp?

Thanks so much for your help - John Vogel

500 per hour http://www.hostgator.com/mailpolicy.shtml

It's unlimited bandwidth, but if you try to use 1000's of Gigs you will get suspended for cpu abuse

50,000 iNodes:

Quote:
7b.) INODES
The use of more than 50,000 inodes on any shared account may potentially result in suspension. Accounts found to be exceeding the 50,000 inode limit will automatically be removed from our backup system to avoid overusage. Every file on your account uses up 1 inode.

Simply exceeding the limit does not constitute grounds for suspension however accounts that constantly create and delete large numbers of files on a regular basis or causing file system damage may cause your account to be flagged for review.

Thanks for the info. The mail policy ling answered my question: throttling is built into pHpList! I'm looking into that now.

Forgive my noobieness, but what is an inode?

Great, thanks. Do you have any idea of how to throttle email messages in pHpList? I'm now going to their help file and I'll see if I can find the answer.

Again - Thanks for your help!

10K hits is pushing the limit of what can be done with a shared account. If you are facing suspension at your old host, then I'd guess you'd face the same issues here.

HG tends to monitor close than most hosts, so if you feel like you are "getting away" with something at your hold host, don't expect that here.

Additionally, I don't think you could come up with a worst list of programs as far as CPU usage. Each of those has had problems in the past with CPU usage and you configuration can make a big different.

I STRONGLY suggest you take HG up on the 30 day guarentee and give them a good test run before you commit to leaving your old host, because it is difficult to say if you are a good fit for the swamp account or not. I'd say its a strong maybe.

Quite a shocking post simply because its helpfull

One of my accounts takes on average 250,000 hits per month with no problems whatsoever. HG will do their very best to accomodate your needs but as Serra rightly pointed out, make use of their 30 day guarantee
