Question Question about transloading existing data

Hi,

I tried looking through the knowledgebase and previous topics here to see if this had been answered but didn't really come across anything so I apologize if this has been covered before.

I plan on starting with a shared account and I want to transfer my existing data (around 1.5GB worth) from an Apple .Mac account. They use WebDAV for uploads and a standard URL or WebDAV for copying stuff off; no ftp access. Because of this, I cannot use one of those ftp clients that allows direct server-to-server transfers (and this would save me a bunch of time from having to upload everything again via my slow home connection). Since HG has no shell access for shared accounts, I cannot use wget or curl to fetch my files that way. I do have a small php webfilemanager script which I've tested with success locally and it has a nifty transloader function that I could use. I kept my eye on top during the test transfer and it seemed to be okay but how this would work in a shared environment might be a different story. So I wanted to check if it would be okay to transfer my files this way to populate my potential site here or if this is discouraged?

Thanks in advance!

I don't think cPanel has a migration tool for that panel, I've heard of most panels and never heard of that one myself.

It is not really a panel in the traditional sense but more or less a bunch of basic web services like disk storage, templated homepage creation, mail, backup, and synching which integrates with Mac OS X and applications. I'm not really in need of a cPanel based migration tool as the php script I have is a browser based file manager like the one in cPanel but with the added ability to upload via a URL (transload).

This inquiry can be disregarded and removed by HostGator staff as I will be signing up with one of the other providers that were able to answer my pre-sale question.

Nah, no time for that. I just like to spend my spare time answering questions.
