I currently have several sites hosted at another hosting company. Due to downtime and slowness, I am considering moving to hostgator. If I purchase a baby account using a domain (www.somedomain.com) will I be able to leave the DNS servers pointed to the old host and access the hostgator account through IP address until I change the DNS info.
The reason for this is the hosting is using moodle for several classes. I do not want any down time. I want to setup the sites on host gator. then move the data and test the site to be sure it is working well. Then at the most advantious time, I will change the DNS server info and go live on hostgator. roy |

On your article for transfering from one host to another, You state you will move the files to the new hostgator account.
Does HostGator also move the MYSQL databases as part of this process? roy |
