Default Question about terms of service

I have a few questions about host gator's tos:
Top sites are not allowed, what are they?
It also says that RPGs are not allowed. Does this include all browser based games (like ikarium, travian, games of that nature)?
It also says no real time chat applications. Does this mean a shoutbox on phpbb or some other forum software would be not allowed?

Oh, also, it says lottery sites are not allowed. Does this mean if I have a points system installed on a forum and members can sign up to the points lottery, that would be breaking the tos?

This is a peer support forum, with most posts coming from HG customers. Staff members don't continuously monitor threads, so your best bet is writing sales (at) hostgator.com to get a more precise answer.

Oh, okay. Well, i dont think ill be using host gator anyways. Most of the testimonials look fake and the live sales support seems to be, well, lacking.

If you are referring to the Review section of the forums then sorry you think they look fake. HG is one of few hosts that allows negative reviews in their forum. I worked for another company and anything that was posted in the forums that was negative was deleted pretty quickly. Good luck with your search.

if the reviews were fake, they'd be a lot better....LOL

in fact, the honesty i've found consistent in HG communications is one of the things that convinced me to be here, and part of why I stay.

On the first page of the Customer Review Forum there are currently 25 reviews of which 3 were negative but the problems have now been resolved to everyones satisfaction, 1 was negative and is now neutral while waiting for feedback from the customer. The remainder are positive (including one from me).

Having spent a fair amount of time on these boards since joining HG I have no doubt that the reviews are real. I doubt if HG have enough staff to be able to generate the variety of styles and language that appear in the reviews and keep the systems up and running.

You don't see many negative ones because HG works hard to make sure that as many customers as possible are happy with the service they provide. Look at the threads that have [resolved] after them. Those are what started as negative reviews but HG have worked with the customers concerned to solve their problem. I have no doubt that problems will arise in the future that HG staff will not be able to solve - that is the nature of life - it is not possible to please all the people all the time.

If HG do not offer a package which meats your needs I can understand that you would want to go else where, but to say that you wont be joining because the reviews are false strikes me as somebody just looking for something to complain about.

I wish you well in your search for your own personal Shangri-la of hosting.
