Does the main domain name show up in a user's browser when they pull up a site that is located in a subdomain? For instance, if I want to run an ezine blog in a subdomain of our business domain name, will users be able to tell that there is a connection between the two? The ezine would be totally unrelated to the content of the business website so it would be very unprofessional, so I don't want to chance it. What about subdomain to subdomain "identification" - for instance if both the blog and the business websites were created in subdomains?

All subdomains link back to the main domain. Look at this forum's domain.
forums.hostgator.com It links back to HostGator.

Orowards,
I'd personally recommend using an 'addon domain'. Basically what an addon domain is -- is an entirely seperate domain name that's hosted on the same account. That way the main domain won't show up at all when the user calls up the addon domain (I think this is exactly what you're attempting to do). Details are available at: http://support.hostgator.com/index.p...kbarticleid=81 http://support.hostgator.com/index.p...kbarticleid=80 Thank you for your time! |
