Default Question re: Add-on/Subdomain setup

Hi, all...

New to the forum, but I've been a HG customer for over a year and a half. However, back when I first became a HG user, I simply set up my main domain and 3 add-on domains, and have yet to add any actual content to those domains. Long story short, I am finally getting around to setting up my websites and I noticed that in addition to the 3 add-on domains, I also have 3 subdomains that mirror the names of the add-ons. I don't remember setting up those subdomains, and a search of this forum seems to indicate that the subdomains were created automatically when the add-on domains were established. Is this correct? Or did I some how botch the whole thing when I initially set up my account?

And, while I have your attention, is there any way I can determine what account "package" I'm signed up for? I honestly can't remember the name or details, and I'd like to refresh my (feeble) memory.

Thanks for your time and attention, and I apologize for the lame noob questions.

Doowah

Yes that's standard cpanel behaviour.

Email sales at HG and they can check your package.

Did you register the new domain that it was changed to?

That's what I was thinking, but didn't want to ask.

The domain is showing as unregistered when I just ran a Whois lookup. The forum is for peer support and there is not a lot we can do to help with this. You should open a ticket with support or send an email to support at hostgator.com and ask them to check into it. If you registered the domain with Hostgator then they can check on whether it has been completed. If you registered with a different registrar you should check with them to see why it is not resolving.

I am showing that as not being registered when I checked.

http://network-tools.com/default.asp...-stoxastis.net

If it was just registered give it about 24 hours and it should start resolving to the site. If you haven't registered it you can register it at the following URL if you like.

http://hostgator.com/domains

If you got a domain registration when you signed up changing the domain on the server does not change the registration to the new domain. That would be a separate domain registration.

You need to contact sales at hostgator dot com and ask them to check on it. The main domain listed in your cPanel has nothing to do with registration. You would need to contact sales so that they can look up the invoice and check on it. I've seen cases where folks thought they had a domain registered but ended up with a typo in the domain name so that the domain they thought they registered did not work. You need to use the Help Desk for this issue rather than the forum.
