Im assuming you mean shared accounts..

Yes you can only move one at a time.. just make a full backup and FTP it to the dedicated server and restore it.

Hi,

This is the easiest way by far to get your accounts onto your dedicated. And remember that if a dedicated server with us is still 30 days old, you can have us transfer it for free!

Question Re: question about moving multiple shared servers

how do i make a full backup?

And how does it work? Like if one of my shared servers has 1 domain name and website hosted on it,and my 2nd shared server has 3 domains with 3 different websites hosted on it,how would this work? Like wouldn't the 2 shared servers overwrite each other after i transfer them to a dedicated server?

You should see the option to do a Full Backup within cPanel's Backup icon.

The second sentence sounds even easier than the first...perhaps the OP should do this.

As long as the accounts dont use the same usernames or domain names then they wont overwrite each other

both my shared accounts use the same usernames. so would I have to change 1 username? And does my dedicated server have to be a different username too?

and once i have my dedicated server, can I cancel my shared server even though there is still some months left that i paid for? Or should i just not renew my shared server?

Yes you will need to change one of the accounts usernames.. and your dedicated servers username will be 'root' (you cant change it)

If youve paid for it in advance then i would say keep it untill you need to renew it as you may have a problem with the dedicated server.

but cpanel doesn't have an option to change usernames does it? you can only change passwords.

also both my shared servers use the same MYSQL usernames and passwords,so would I need to change these? If so,cpanel doesn't let you change mysql usernames and passwords.

Ask HG do move you to the dedicated --they will do it quickly and carefully

But remember to do it within 30 days if you don't want to pay for it.

Good luck!

the same pass dosnt matter, the same db user dosnt matter.. all that matters is the cpanel username and they will change it

because the usernames are the same, if you want to do it then you will need to pay HG to change an accounts username.

Because there's no point in spending hours or days figuring out how you're going to do it, moving and copying files, etc., when HG can work quickly, efficiently, and for no cost.

It's like some--not all--car repairs...if you can get them done for nothing by someone who knows exactly what s/he is doing and it won't cost anything, you're better off just handing him/her the key and picking up the car when it's done.

Unlike many installations or server setups, this is probably not something that will offset the obnoxious hours and days (for you--probably take HG less than an hour) with a worthwhile learning experience.

howcome cpanel doesn't have an option to change usersnames? Or why doesn't hostgator provide an option in cpanel to change usersnames?

Because its a system wide change so you need to be logged in as root

Keep asking the same question over and over when we clearly said HG can do it.

When you're root on a dedicated you can change the cPanel username.

From what I noticed is they are a user that posts and never replies back to other posts related. One of two users that have earned my "block" award
