Question about Forum hosting

I was wanting to start an online forum, I wsa told hostgator is a great web hosting service for this. Can anyone point me in the direction of some how to's for use when I purchase host gator service.

FYI I am very computer literate. I have a Computer Engineering degree and work professionaly as a Solaris SA.

I am having a difficult time trying to understand you question. You want some links for information on forums? After you become a verified HostGator subscriber on these forums, you will see several more topics and categories where you can access plenty of information on forums, such a phpBB and vBulletin.

how-to's for what?

hg will give you info when you sign up about uploading, nameservers, etc. their support area has some general info.

if you're interested in forum specific advice, then an idea of what forum you might be using and what you don't know how to do would be helpful to get coherent responses.
