I have an existing Baby Croc account with a website - and everything works fine. I recently purchased a different domain name that I want to host using my same Baby Croc account. Here is what I did:
1) Went into cpanel, and successfully used "Addon Domain" to create the addon domain. Watched the web tutorial and everything. 2) Created a subfolder in my existing public_html directory (for my other main site) with the name of the new subfolder being the name of the new addon domain. I then loaded an index.html file in there with an "under construction" type message. 3) Next I went to my yahoo domain account, unlocked the addon domain name, then changed the DNS's to the same hostgator DNS names from my original Welcome to Hostgator email (which I got when I purchased my original baby croc account for my other domain name). 4) I then re-locked my domain name in my yahoo domain account. What am I missing? When I hit the URL of the new add-on domain, I am still staring at the Yahoo Domain default page that should only be showing if I did none of the above? Or do I just need to wait? Any help or comments would be appreciated - thanks! Greg |

It can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours for your DNS to propagate fully throughout the internet.
Also as far as I am aware when you add an add on domain in cPanel it creates the directory for you, you do not do it manually |

Okay - so I probably just need to wait. Seems like when I created my original site, I was able to view it almost immediately.
Oh - and when I said I created the subfolder with the name of the new addon domain name, I actually had to do that in the local replica. The reason is that the index.html page that I created using Dreamweaver overwrote the index.html page for my original site. So now I have on the remote site: 1) public_html\index.html (for my original site) 2) public_html\new-addon-domain-name-folder\index.html (for new add-on site) and 1) works as it did before (good), but I suppose I'm still waiting for 2) for the DNS to propogate over from yahoo. |

Yes, it can take a while for DNS to propagate. However, something you might try, if you haven't already, is hitting the refresh on your browser just to make sure you're seeing what's on the web rather than what's cached on your PC.

Everything is working fine now - just took a while for the DNS to propagate. Getting email to work on the add-on domain was really easy, too - no problems. Thanks everyone!
