Default Purchasing New Domain w/ Hosting

Once you purchase a hosting package with brand new domain name, how long does it take Host Gator to setup the domain.com name?

Thanks

Do you mean the domain name itself? Or the hosting account?

The account will probably be set up in maybe 30 minutes (after they have received the payment), the domain name takes up to 48 hours to propagate.

I meant the actual domain name. I ordered a brand new one with a hosting account. I know at other places I've hosted at, I was able to use the address within 30 minutes. (actually typing in www.domain.com in the address bar)

Wasn't sure what the turnaround time here was.

Thanks

my experience is that if it's a new domain it's between 30 minutes and 4h to be able to access it in the browser. But remind that it could be intermittently available up to 48h like quietFinn said. Only after that time one can trust that something that happens is server or network problem and not propagation.
