Publishing my site

I'm brand new at this(!); I uploaded my site to "public_html" but I still can't see it--all that comes up is "Index of/ and a list of file names I'd previously tried to publish. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have a page called index.html (or whatever type you are using... php, htm, etc.)?

More than liekely, you have no page tagged as the "index" (should be your home page).....
