I was wondering if it's possible to have a link to my site's statistics somehow so that visitors can see how much traffic the site gets. I would rather just use one of the options we have under control panel, instead of a third-party's tool.
Has anyone set this up with a script and the logs or something like it? Thanks. Dana |

Dana,
How about lust setting up a link that goes to something like AWSTATS? They would still have to have a login account but they won't actually be going through Cpanel? Something like http://www.yourdomain.com:2082/awsta...yourdomain.com Tony |

Hey,
I did this once for a client who wanted his stats public and didn't want any logging in or passwords of any kind- I made a subdirectory on his site called STATS. I installed a program on my own machine called PyrobatchFTP. I set the program to automaically FTP into his real Webalizer folder each day and copy/overwrite everything NEW into the STATS folder - Including the index.html file. Done! It may seem drastic but it was a clean, permanent, and secure solution. |

I made a subdomain as stats.yourdomain.com for my client. He is able to view AWSTATS and not anything else.

Yes, I know I am bringing this post back from the dead!
But I am very interested in making this happen. So if sonic or anyone else has figured this out, please post! We can not ask Buckshot as he is no longer a HG customer. I googled this and came up with a solution, but not as clean as stats.yourdomain.com It involved setting up AWSTATS in your cgi-bin but you still needed the entire URL (awstats.pl?config=yourdomain.com&lang=en) I'm looking for a simple way for clients to check their stats & not have to login. |

Ok well I was bound & determined to figure this one out...and I did...so I thought I would share with all others.
I found a .zip file another hosting co. created. Although you do have to log in, it is totally seperate from the cpanel login. I suppose some security is necessary. Here's what I did. 1) Create "stats" sub-domain 2) Edit config.php with your info 2) Upload all to stats directory 3) There you go! It could also be done with just a folder vs sub-domain. ex. yourdomain.com/stats The only difference the stats images would need to go into your public_html/images folder instead of public_html/stats/images like it does with a sub-domain. I hope this all makes sence, if you can't figure it out...post & I'll help as much as I can. Ok well I was going to attach to this post but, attachment exceeds 39K limit! 39K?!? HG we may want to think about increasing this limit! Send me a PM or email & I'll get it to those interested. |

Using the script on "http://www.josheli.com/vox/view_source.php?awstats.php", I found that if you're using a "/" character in your password it will through an error. If you're having problems try changing your cpanel password using alphanumeric characters. Very useful script though.

In case you didn't notice, gamera, this thread is a bit old (2006)
![]() For those currently interested in public stats, however, you can open a ticket requesting it by e-mailing support@hostgator.com. We can set a symlink to your stats file allowing anyone to see statistics without a login by going to http://www.yourdomain.com/stats |

Last I heard cpanel couldn't do this without a lot of third party programming. Glad to hear it now only requires a simple symlink. I've emailed support.

How about using Piwik. You can export the sections of your stats that you want people customers to see. The software is open source and simple to install http://piwik.org/
Heres a link to a demo http://piwik.org/demo/index.php |

Okay, it only took tech support a few minutes to set me up.
I see the output is from Webalizer. I've heard Webalizer can be resource intensive, especially on shared servers? Not that I was planning on giving my stats link to everyone (just staff). But is it safe for it to be out in the open like this? |
