And likely to remain against the TOS. I would not expect it happen and would not want to be on a shared server that has proxy sites.

Why?

If you buy a dedicated server you can put what you like on it as long as it is not illegal

Running a public proxy can bring more problems when you become a source to provide a access to hacker/terrorist who can harm other network.

Guys no ofence but please read my question and don't just shout out the first thing that comes in to mind.
As I asked, "Do you guys plan on making a proxy hosting plan soon." Keyword here is "Soon" which clearly shows that there are no plans in which proxies are allowed other than your own server.

And to the person that asked about what I wanted to do, I want to host a proxy but I don't want to pay another 6 bucks a month to get hosting somewhere else.

I used to run a few proxies, but it wasn't too profitable once they started getting blocked. I did use cloakhost.com And I find their prices very appealing.

They use DirectAdmin, so it's not cPanel, but if your into making some $$$ then it shouldn't really matter.

Just my two cents worth,

Tobias

Wouldn't that get a lot of HostGator's IPs blacklisted?

Because at my school, we sometimes use a web proxy but the IPs and URLs are blocked within hours (and are blocked at every school state wide). So wouldn't this be a problem when the IPs are reassigned to someone else?

You can do lots of things to get your IPs blacklisted, FYI. Start sending thousands of mails out to people who didn't opt-in and then see if your clients can get any mail delivered (amongst other things...).

Yeah, true true... But that's illegal... (isn't it?)

Either way, I would hate to get a block of IPs that are already blocked...

If you're referring to CAN-SPAM, there are things that can certainly get you into problems with the FTC. But there are things you could do that would be problematic for your IP that wouldn't run afoul of laws, certainly.

I was wondering what the big deal with proxies was. Sounds like the number of bad guys using them may outnumber the good.

In most cases. Also proxy sites takes too much resources on server side.

Proxies can log the IP of the persorn using it there is no reason to be afraid of them, I hope all the bad guys use them for harm because this way they will not last long.

But they are smarter than that and instead they will hack your computer or server and use it for harm.

Secure your server if you afraid of the bad guys using proxies.

It's not a matter of being afraid of the bad guys using proxies, but more of what alemcherry said. They tend to use way more server resources than we can currently allot to one customer. A Proxy server tends to have a lot of traffic to it, granted most of it not good, and as such, the number of customers we gain on by not having them far outweighs the number of customers we miss out on by not allowing them.
