First experience doing some commercial sites...with the first site near completion, another friend said "do mine too!" I'm not in this to make money - it's really just helping out friends.
Site one: Small business with a static page with monthly updates and a mailing list. Possibly would upgrade to shopping cart at some time in the future (not soon). Site two: Small service with a static page with monthly updates and a mailing list. Likely to want a phpbb. Could desire a shopping cart in the near future. It's likely that I will need to continue running the sites as both owners are techo-challenged. This means the owners would not need cPanel access. I am doing both of these sites in trade for goods and services so a method of payment from them is not needed (ie reseller acct) Again, I'm not looking to make money and do not plan on adding any more sites as I already have plenty of other employment! Simplicity is a good thing though as time is at a premium. So...as the title says....pros and cons of setting up 2 baby accounts versus one baby account and one addon. TIA for replies. |

2 babies is technically cheaper but, you can split up one domain amongst two cPanel accounts. So yes, it would be cheaper and more efficient if with two domains you bought two baby's. Although the 2 baby's would cost a little more they'd have more BW overall. :S
[EDIT] Oh wait I thought you were going after two baby's or a swamp... Well what I said still counts really. But personally I reccomend just doing one baby and an add-on.

OH, You're doing websites for people and you would like to set their site up on a hostgator plan? Best would be to go with two. That way they both have access to their own cPanel, no one gets confuzed, and no one fights.

Decided on Hatchling for one and Baby for the other. The two clients are good friends at the minutes and would love to save more money - but in case one decides to close site, or both decide to run a shoopin cart...decided on 2 separate accounts.
And there's always the hope that they will take over the site management.... Thanks Machine Dog. |

Actually you can run more then 1 shopping cart on each account. But, I still think 2 would be best.
