Default promoting my theater site

http://www.wneptheater.org/

i took over all the tech stuff last summer, and re-doing our site so that it's data-driven and functional was a big part of that. we're still adding 12 years worth of show history and reviews... big job...

i'm not much of a design guy (more of a functional guy), so please be gentle wrt the look and feel :-)

it's joomla (i tweaked the default template) and SMF. and sorry that the forums aren't guest-viewable, i was getting far too many views for my own comfort.

Just out of curiositry, you said no guest access due to a lot of page views making you uncomfortable.

Ummm, why uncomfortable? I won't sign up for it if I have no idea why I am signing up or have no motivation to post about something.

Jsut my 2 cents.

it's a fair point. i don't really expect complete strangers to join the site, but people who are already familiar w/ the company. plus, imo, the bulk of outside interest should be on the site, not the forums, and one needn't join to look at the site content.

regrading the page views, i reckon it's bots crawling the forums. when there's a thread w/ 1 reply but 1000 views -- and only a couple dozen registered members -- i start getting paranoid about being crawled. maybe i shouldn't be and i'm willing to hear other viewpoints on it.

fwiw, i can't convince the members to stop posting people's email addresses...

Don't sell yourself short.
I've seen a few Joomla sites and this one is actually quite good designwise (in my opinion).
Keep up the good work
