does hostgator offer "private label" nameservers? This lets people change how their DNS is seen in the whois. So in the DNS in the whois they can make it say for example NS1.ANONYMOUSDNS.COM
If hostgator does offer this, will the IP address of the server still be showing in the DNS in the whois? For example: NS1.ANONYMOUSDNS.COM 111.111.1.111 If so, is there anyway to hide the ip address of the server in the whois? and how much does "private label" nameservers cost? |

HG offers private nameservers to resellers and dedi owners.
It is not available to shared and you can't hide your name servers in Whois, as its like your phone number. No one can call you if they can't have your number. |

does anyone actually have private label nameservers on a server currently? I would like to whois it so I can see what it looks like. I know you cant hide nameservers, i just want to change them. But does the IP address of the private label nameserver still show in the whois?

Daabomb,
It depends on where you look up the whois. Coolwhois.com always shows IP information (do a whois on any domain there, google.com or your own). Allwhois.com doesn't (again, do whois on a few). It just depends. The IP will always be public information. It has to be.

so will the IP address it shows in the whois be the ip address of my server or domain name or both?
And if it is the ip address of a hostgator dedicated server, do dedicated servers share ip addresses with other dedicated servers? and what is a dedicated ip address for a dedicated server? Quote:

Most dedicated servers are assigned 5 IP addresses. <offtopic> PS: Any new websites to show us? </offtopic> |

If it is a reseller account the IP addresses will be the two IP addresses used for nameservers on that server. If it is a dedicated server you will set up two of the IPs as nameserver IPs and can either share those IPs or use a different IP for the account.
