Question Pre Sales question

On your Aluminum reseller plan:

How many Private Name Servers?

Does it come with any dedicated IP?
If not how much per month for one IP?

Are we allowed to install our own SSL cert through WHM or do we have to pay you to do it?

What are the server specs for this plan?

I don't resell but use a reseller plan to manage my company's multiple domains. Some of these domains have double opt-in mailing lists with monthly newsletter mailings. The volume ranges from 200-3000 for the various lists. What are your restrictions on sending? I use PHPlist to manage my list so I can send metered.

I read somewhere here that you have connection limits of 30 per hour for email. Is that 30 per hour per email address or 30 per hour per IP? I manage over 10 domains. If it's 30 per hour per IP does that mean that if I have the multiple email accounts that I manage on each of those domains forward to a single email on each domain that I would only be able to check my email from my office IP 3 times an hour?

Do you run PHPsuexec?

Do your mailservers ever get blacklisted?

I am currently with matrixresellers (a division of vortechhosting) and they are discontinuing their CPanel accounts and giving all their CPanel customers 90 days to find other hosting.
I was actually starting to look anyway due to the fact that they had not upgraded their Cpanel install so PHP was still at 4.3.9 and their mailservers keep getting blacklisted preventing me from doing business.

Is anybody on your servers running X-Cart without any problems?

Do you allow us to install and maintain our own versions of PHPBB rather than running the CPanel version?

Thanks,
Cameron

You get a shared IP. You can get a dedicated for $2 per month.

SSL Information:

Q. What is the difference between shared ssl and private ssl?
A. A shared ssl displays as https//ip/~yourusername/ A private ssl would display as https://www.yourdomain.com in the address bar.

Q. How do I purchase a private ssl from you and what type is it?
A. We sell Comodo 128 bit certificates for $75 a year and include free installation. To purchase an SSL from us pick the type of an account you have with us. Normal Clients | Reseller Clients

Q. Can you tell me a little about Comodo SSL's?
A. Comodo SSL's are trusted by over 99.3% of internet browsers (equal to Verisign and Thawte certificates). The only difference between one ssl type and another is the browser recognition. You can rest assured the Comodo SSL certificates we our selling are among the highest browser recognition in the industry. To name a few of the browsers.. all Internet Explorer 5.00 and above, Netscape 4x and above, AOL 5 and above and Opera 5 and above and comes pre-installed with all Windows 98SE, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Mac OS 8.5, Mac OS 9.x, Mac OS X operating systems.

Q. What is the path to the free shared ssl?
A. Please visit our shared ssl page.

Q. Do you have a seal I can place on my site?
A. Yes, http://hostgator.com/images/siteseal.gif

Q. I'm going to purchase my own ssl what do I need to know?
A. Our servers are Apache + Mod SSL If you require assistance from us to install it there will be a $25.00 installation fee. We will need both the key and the csr. You will also need a dedicated ip before contacting us which can be purchased here. www.hostgator.com/ip.php

Q. How do I transfer a ssl?
A. Every place that sells ssl's has a different transfer procedure. You will need to ask the supplier you purchased it from.

I've reviewed a lot of shopping carts and I still love x-cart.

I had an osCommerce user call me on Friday and he wanted to know how to hook his payment processor up with osCommerce... Guess what, it isn't supported. I pointed him toward x-cart.

I talk to a lot of eCommerce store owners who really don't want to shell out $185.00 for X-cart because they think it is too expensive... well, the store is one of the main things that gets people to buy from you. It has to look professional and it has to make people want to buy your products.

I look at it this way, if you don't spend any money on setting up your store, your customers are going to know it.

Another thing that is very important is your payment processor. SO many people HATE Paypal. That is simply a fact of life. If that is the only payment processor you offer, then MANY people are going to shop someplace else.

If you are sell more than about $1500.00 in products a month, then Authorize.net is worth the extra money. If your sales are lower than that, you might wonder if it is because you use Paypal. I was reading an article that said that when companies put the "Hacker Safe" logo on their store, their sales go up between 15-25%. One has to assume that your payment processor would have the same effect.

BTW: The hacker safe logo thing costs over $150.00 per month. Much cheaper than the e-Trust logo, but still expensive.

Disclosure: I am a reseller for both Authorize.net and X-cart. I use Authorize.net for my business. I tried a lot of other solutions before I shelled out the cash to become a reseller for both. I'm fairly sure both are the best on the market.

X-cart is awesome. One factor sold me on X-cart over OsCommerce that is the ability to upload products to the catalog from a spreadsheet. (Yes, I know about EZ Populate, but it doesn’t do nearly enough).

I have a client that sells clothes and she needed to add about 300 items to her cart. Each item had a price, size (8-32), color (Usually 5 choices) and three yes/no options that change the price and shipping cost. She put them on two spread sheets and then I was able to simply upload them to X-cart. A few days later, she realized that she had set ALL of the prices wrong and had set some of the color options wrong as well. She called me and asked what to do, I told her to adjust the spreadsheet. Three hours later her whole catalog was fixed….

X-Cart is so configurable that I often can’t tell what shopping cart X-cart users are using.
- Serra (Edited)

That must be working fine for them.

Thanks for the snippet of that thread. They seem happy

I have been running X-Cart for years now on other hosts and just wanted to make sure that it would run under the config here.

Do you know if PHPsuexec is enabled or not? I would prefer not as it can cause permissions issues.

PHPSuexec is not enabled. PHP scripts run as "nobody".

I was running phpBB 2.0.13 until I upgraded to vBulletin 3.0.7 and both work fabulous.
