Greetings.
I am considering starting with a reseller plan such as Copper, then as my business grows upgrading to other packages. I have a few questions: 1) If I see midmonth that my bandwidth is more than anticipated, can I upgrade to the next plan? 2) Is there any downtime on your site when you upgrade plans? 3) If things go exceedingly well, and business looks like I need to move to a dedicated server, is there a charge to move from reseller to dedicated? 4) If I moved to dedicated do I still get the reseller functions? 5) Is there any downtime on your sites if you move from reseller to dedicated? 6) If I do the domain reselling, do the clients own the domains themselves or does enom? 7) Backups. On the reseller plans, do you guys do backups or are we responisble for our own backups? I will backup anyway, but would like xtra insurance 8) When you go set up your packages for resell, do you have to enable the options at that time when you create the packages, or can they be enabled after the fact? 9) once I register how long does it take to get the setup e-mail and ow long to get authorized on the forum? Sorry for all the questions. I have been reading the forums and been writing down questions I have. |

Upgrading does not have any downtime, although you may see some downtime when switching to the dedicated. There is no charge to change, on a dedicated box you'll have root access to the server which means you'd even be able to create reseller packages aswell, reboot the server when needed, etc. On the reseller plans they do backups but, to restore a backup it is 15 dollars. I didn't quite understand that last one, you can change options like fantastico, phpBB, etc. The email should come in within 15 minutes that it's being created. Then within an hour it should be completely setup. And on the domains question, if you assign for reseller status which means you'd need to put a $100 deposit in on domains, the customer would own it.

Ok thanks for the reply. In the TOS HG says:
users may not initiate the following: a) Use 25% or more of system resources for longer then 90 seconds. There are numerous activities that could cause such problems; these include: CGI scripts, FTP, PHP, HTTP, etc. Is there some sort of mechanism so that you can monitor you and your clients cou usage so that your account doesnt get suspended? In reading the forums, there seems to be an issue with accounts getting suspended, not just the offending processes? |

As long as you don't put in a script that ends up going into an infinite loop then most likely it won't happen.

![]() I have absolutely no problem with Dedicated!! Unless your intimidated by having full control over the whole server? Or because it isn't something running on a MS server with all it's bugs and security holes? |

So what happens if you do initiate an infinite loop?
During testing I have done this on occassion. By the time you realize what the problem is, the process is already eating up resources. Simply clicking stop on your browser does not seem to terminate the loop. Would an accident like this result in an admin killing the process, or would it result in suspension of account? I feel the latter would be rather unacceptible. |

If you have a dedicated server it doesn't matter and you can rip on the hardware as much as you want. If you're on shared though using up more then 25% resources for more then 90 seconds is a breach of the TOS.

Look at the snapshot of the WHM, this is what root sees, or at least part of it. http://hostwithtexas.com/snapshot.jpg You can also check to see if there is a load on any service. |

Basically, they don't want people on shared servers to be running huge processor hog programs, like giant databases and scripts that eat processor power. It is a way for them to boot people who abuse the system, not hapless users who make mistakes. |
