Default Powweb User Referred

Hello, I am currently a POWWEB user and I am completely fed up with the MYSQL problems that POWWEB has been experiencing recently. I have a brand new website and have a lot of GOOGLE Advertising going out but I'm wasting my money because people can't get on my website or if they do they complain about how slow it is. I'm using Portal system E107, php software that is pretty Database driven. My questions are as follows, please kindly number your answers as I did so I can look through them easy.

1. Anyone run phpNuke or e107 and use the hatchling / baby service? Have any problems? Seem Fast?

2. e107 automatically updates the database for you, so there is no manual updating, would moving my entire sight over be pretty easy?

3. I have my domain www.pubyak.com registered through Powweb as well, if I switch over does Hostgator take that domain away from Powweb? how does that work, I've never switched to another provider before.

4. Do I look fat in these jeans?

If the old host uses cPanel then #2 would be pretty easy. You can request that HostGator transfer the site over.

On #3 you would need to check with the old host to be sure but if you are listed as the administrative contact then you should be able to either transfer the domain registration or change the nameservers and leave the registration where it is. When you set up an account here you will receive an email with information on the nameservers. If you change the nameservers to the new ones then the site will point here.

There are lots of folks here running PhpNuke and similar sites.

From reading the information on your main page I would suggest that you be sure and read over the Terms of Service for Hostgator. There are certain things that are not allowed. If you allow your users to upload content that is prohibited by the TOS then you will likely find your site suspended.

Thanks for the information, yeah I just read the TOS and it appears that my site would be acceptable, My site is an Unrestricted Public Access site, but it states several times over that there is to be no Child Pornography, links to or any type of illegal activities, while my site does allow the personal uploading of personal nude photographs of the individual user themselves in a non sexual act. I cannot find anything int he TOS that would be against this... Thanks for the info and please for the love of god let me know if I'm over looking anything before I switch over.

BTW you didn't answer #4... Do these jeans make me look fat :P

Don't tell PW your moving, they will screw with your stuff.

Get HG to move all your data for you, then move the domain at the last n final step. Even then don't tell PW till your sure the move worked.

Just give HG staff password to get into your OPS/CP

-----------

Im in a similar boat but am running a test account with a different domain before my big move from PW.

I'm not sure powerweb really cares if you are leaving or not, but if you don't tell them, they will not have a chance to mess around with you.

yea they do and will mess with ya, I know first hand. Why I have them in the dark myself and even updated my CC info to a newer one with a later expire date to make them feel secure.

I have proved it to myself but not very scientificly.
But it happens in a very obvious pattern.

more you complain about the slowness the more your site runs like crap or file get moved and deleted on their own for some reason.

More you praise the service on the forum the better your site runs and the more they will do for ya.

Problem is PW got sold to a private investment firm where profits come first now. They actualy own about a dozen hositng places all dumped on the same servers. When it was powerweb they were the best n fastest and would bend over backwards for ya. Now they bend you over.

Its why Im here.

There is a new member asking right now in the PW forum why are thing buggy n slow, mods of course say check your code by default. But I dare not tell him or even PM him to let him know whats really up and why he loads blank pages every other click on his site. Poor guy just singed up two days ago, id love to tell him to come here but I dare not.

i post at their forum few months back, and they told me is the mysql problem. Guess it cant be fixed, due to their complex load balancing server environment.

If you want to talk about other hosting companies please do it elsewhere, this is not the right place for that.

I believe the appropriate response is: "Certainly not Dear"...

Least wise that's the only one where you don't have to sleep on the couch.

Well you will need to forgive us as we don't get to vent our frustration anywhere else. Least were not sayign their are great, right?

cause they suck. But say so in their forum and get ready for even slower then normal service and your account getting messed with. There is no logical way key important files for my forum would jump from the deep in my htdocs folder to above my htdocs folder so the site wouldn't work, with them saying we don't know figure it out...
